Q: Why do I have to sign a contract if its free?
IT IS FREE!! However we need a signature to give us permission to begin work and a signature when we complete the work for proof that you were home and we completed our services. We also need a signature verifying income if we are installing lightbulbs.
Q: Why didn't I receive lightbulbs and/or showerheads?
A. It could be a few reasons. First, you must be income eligible. Second, if we are unable to pass a major measure like duct, infiltration or ceiling insulation we are unable to install lightbulbs during our visit. Third, if your utility is Texas New Mexico power, their program does not offer lightbulbs or showerheads. Finally there times in the year where funding for the lightbulbs and showerheads are unavailable and we are unable to install bulbs or showerheads. Additionally, your water heater has to be electric for us to install showerheads.
Q: Why didnt the crew install bulbs in this room or closet? What about outside?
A: We are restricted to installing lightbulbs in areas where the lights are on for at least 3 hours a day. The bulbs do not work on dimmer switches. Closets lights are not typically on for three hours a day and do not qualify. We cannot place more than 3 bulbs in bath hollywood type fixtures as well. The program does not allow us to place bulbs outside.
Q: Can I move the locations of lightbulbs?
A: We prefer you did not because if the utility sets up an appointment with you, they are looking for the locations we installed them in.
Q: Why didn't the crew do anything in my home?
It could be many reasons. Here are a few common ones. The duct system setup can't be done due to the guidelines. Issues like broken windows or missing sheetrock prevent us from doing the work as well. Finally our testing indicates your house does not require any service.
Q: My friend had more work done at his house than my house...Why?
A: It's because testing and initial assessment indicated we needed to do more work and your friend might have qualifed for lightbulbs and/or showerheads and you did not.
Q: Why do I have a large bag full of empty insulation bags in my attic?
A: We leave the bags in the attic in case the utility wants to verify the number of bags we installed if they call you to setup an inspection. You may throw it out after six months of installation.
Q: Can I tell my friends and neighbors about this program?
A: Of course. That is how we get more customers is from you.
Q: If I dont qualify for your free service, can I pay for it?
A: All our work is free...You may call the office and we can look at it on a case by case basis.
